I help people struggling with sexual addictions regain balance in
their sex lives.
People struggling with sexual addiction act on sexual urges and seek sexual arousal in spite of the negative consequences. Sex addiction can have dire consequences for people’s close relationships. It can also have significant negative work, financial and even legal implications.
Often they need progressively greater quantities
of sexual stimulus to feel OK. Their life may come
to revolve around pursuing sex. Often people will
try to control their behavior for periods of time,
only to binge later on.

Am I addicted
to sex or
addicted to pornography?
In today’s society, sex is everywhere. Objectifying ourselves and glamorizing risky sexual behavior is part of the culture. Recently, Internet porn has become one of the most common forms of addiction. Most people that I see live full lives and are active members of society. Their sexual addiction is often secret that they hide from others.
Please note that due to my office policies, I am not able to help those who have actively pursued sexual relationships with minors.
Sadly, there is a stigma around sexual addiction that makes it difficult for some people to reach out for help. I provide a safe, confidential and judgment-free environment where people can heal from their addiction.
When people first visit me for sexual addiction, it is often because they have had a crisis that resulted from their addiction (e.g. their romantic partner discovered their addiction). The first stage of therapy is often to help them through this crisis, and to further limit the possible future consequences.
The next stage of treatment involves helping people understand themselves better. Often sexual addiction can be rooted to past trauma or poor past relationships. The healing process helps people explore their inner world and come to understand what are the underlying causes of their addiction.
I never see the addiction as the person. Most of the time people spend in in therapy is often not directly talking about their sexual addiction. I believe in the innate goodness of all human beings. In my experience, when given the right support and care, people's addictions will naturally fall away as their life gradually fills with enriching activities and relationships.
