Anxiety is a feeling of discomfort that prevents people from
fully living presently. People struggling with anxiety tend to worry a
lot about many things. Often the worry is a generalized fear about the
future and their safety. To sooth themselves, people with anxiety may use repetitive routines, preoccupations or addictions to find
relief.
Stress and anxiety are related, but often confused. Stress is tension associated with a specific event (e.g. a test or a job deadline), while anxiety is a non-specific worry about the future.
